’Bluecrop’ is still a fundamental production cultivar in our climate, best-known and appreciated. A standard cultivar to which all cultivars are compared. Its shrubs grow 1.6– m high. Big berries of very good quality, suitable for manual and mechanical harvesting (especially later crops). Very tasty, good for both direct consumption and storing. Its fruit ripens from the first decade of August, gives high yield, 4– kg per shrub. Shrubs grow vigorously, also in drier positions. ‘Bluecrop’ is a moderately early cultivar, high-yielding, very good for commercial and amateur planting. Prefers dryier soils, in heavy and wet soils is more susceptible to stem and root diseases. One of the most tolerant cultivars to late spring ground frosts.
